“Oh be thou mine.” and “Love” are the messages chosen by the Victorian woman to surround her photo. She dreams of true love. Next to her photo a picture depicts a Romeo hugging his Juliet while she leans over a balcony. They hail from a romanticized time period over two hundred years before the woman’s own. Love often appears greener on the other side of the centuries. The calling card on the bottom of the picture identifies the woman as R.F. Shay and indicates she hails from the Upstate New York town of Elmira.
My daughter Alix died at age twenty-five before she married. But she had boyfriends. I hope one of them arrived at her doorstep to sweep her off her feet.
Do you believe in romance?
I am glad our children got to experience romance, relationships, and love before departing this earthly realm. I believe being back in the cosmos expands what love is really about.
Yes and no. Romance is a lovely warm feeling at the beginning of a relationship of course…but consistently showing up in the tough times is the love offering which really matters. Dom was very loved by girlfriends…two are still in touch with me, which is lovely. Maybe he’s sweeping Alix off her feet now 🥰
