Masonic Symbols
An all-knowing eye of God stares from the Masonic pendant and indicates God watches your actions at all times. Beneath the Masonic eye is a right-angle square masonry tool and under the square is another square which encloses a symbol of the 47th Problem of Euclid (Pythagorean Theory). These Masonic symbols illustrate “square your square” and remind people to get their lives in order. The inscription on the back of the pendant dedicates the award to Bro. A.E. Powell and thanks him for his service as W.M. (Worshipful Master) of the CHORLTON LODGE 1387 dated April 11th, 1889.
My daughter Alix never became a Mason. And she chose not to join a sorority in college. But she tattooed a small white eye on each wrist which could have been the Masonic all-knowing eye of God. When Alix was in a manic episode from her bipolar disorder, she developed her own symbology of the world. Now in heaven, she may have joined a society laden with secret symbols.
Have you or a lost loved one belonged to a fraternal order? Do you know any symbols or rituals from a society?

Douglas had a small cross tattooed on his ankle. It meant a lot to him. Perhaps those eyes of Alix are being put to good use. Watching, keeping a close eye out on her loves, helping those who perhaps have never felt seen. 💜👁️
Wow. My grandfather was a freemason. I never really did a deep dive into the symbols, so this was super interesting. Thanks Julie :)
