Dearest Alix, doing all that she could, using an inordinate amount of energy treading water to remain earth side. It's all a part of the mystery. Why some find healing, others do not until they can drop their bodies? Sending you always so much gentle loving care dearest Julie, as you ponder. Xo 💕

Alix did tread water and fight to remain earth side. Both her and Douglas lost their illness on the other side. I always appreciate your insightful and supportive words. Your love and care for Alix and me shines through, and I send the same to you and Douglas.

Fascinating, Julie! I suppose this is where the white veil and wedding dress came from. Most of us would live longer, given constant supervision and protection from all but illness. The fear of being buried alive would certainly avert most people, but this would be giving up a great part of your life, especially back then when they didn't live much longer. Unless in poverty, who would volunteer for such a post?

I believe both Alix and Garrett had rich and full lives, making their own choices, facing pain and joy, and knowing they were loved. Really, who could ask for more?

That is a really important point that Alix and Garrett had rich and full lives. It took me a while to realize Alix had a meaningful and impactful life even if it was cut short.

Well I think being buried alive would keep anyone from doing wrong or what they considered wrong.

Living with bipolar disorder though is so hard. Your daughter tried I'm sure to overcome it. But somethings are just too hard to live with. I understand this. It's the loved ones who are left that have that continuous struggle. She is at peace now I am sure and that can give you some comfort.

It does give me comfort to believe that my daughter no longer has bipolar disorder in the afterlife and that one day I will join her.

A lovely picture. I enjoy these glimpses into long ago lives. I’m sure you gave your own lovely daughter every possible protection but illness shortened her life so tragically. May her memory be a blessing. ❤️

Thank you for the blessing and the reassurance that I did all I could for my daughter!

Oh gosh, Julie, this post touches so much on the material I’m working with at the moment in doing the structural edit of Dom’s book. Dom and Alix I think had similar challenges, and showed exceptional bravery in facing them honestly and authentically. How I wish life had been fairer to them, but I do draw comfort that they have earned the right to our feeling inordinately proud of them 🤗

Yes we are proud parents! That is wonderful you are editing Dom’s book!

Interesting information on Vestal Virgins. I wonder how often they went out into the community with their guards ad if they stayed connected to their families.

The vestal virgins attended Roman ceremonies so they got to go out! They also maintained contact with their families, but their duties to Rome came first.
