Watching Over the Children
A doting mother watches over her children in the Victorian painting. Her daughters sleep huddled together on a blanket thrown across the parlor sofa. The interior scene exudes safety, love, and hearth and home.
I tucked my two daughters in at night and protected them. My older daughter Alix left home when she went to college. Her doctor prescribed Adderall before she departed and raised the dose. The Adderall precipitated a manic episode and unleased an underlying bipolar disorder her freshman year. I wish I could have kept her mental illness at bay. And Alix was safe at home tucked in her bed rather than lying cold in her grave.
Did you tuck your deceased loved one in at night?

I think we all wish our children were at home being tucked in. We yearn for those days.
This image brings back lovely memories of tucking my daughters and their respective dolls into bed at night. Thank you for sharing your heart's wish that many of us understand. Holding space for your heartache and grief. Sending a hug your way.
